There's a flurry of recent book activity. Here are a few of the books that have been published by AdMarketers and/or those in the Washington, DC area. Have you published a book lately? Tell us about it!
------------
Julie Kantor, of NFTE fame: I Said Yes!
I Said Yes! is about America's young people and what we can do to better serve them, especially the one in five living below the poverty line. You will be introduced to a growing movement that teaches entrepreneurship to young people from low-income communities, called the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship or NFTE (pronounced "nifty").
Geoff Livingston: now is gone
Mark Amtower, government marketing expert: Why Epiphanies Never Occur to Couch Potatoes
This is the book that started as a lunch speech (Amtower's Laws of Survival and Success) at the MeritDirect B2B Coop on July 14, 2005.
Since that time, it has taken on a life of its own, and now the book is out.

Did anyone see Monday's WashPost article on dc startupweekend? Did anyone participate? Pretty neat stuff- create a viable company in a weekend...
The other article in yesterday's paper was on funding for Web 2.0 companies. Greg Gershman, of blogdigger and now dc techbeat pointed to the following notice that Kleiner Perkins has halted investments in Web 2.0 companies.
Is anyone starting a 'Web 2.0' company? Do you think that startup funding is easier or harder to get than it was in the 90's? A better question is probably if someone can give us a definition of what 'Web 2.0' really means :-)

Hi everyone--
While doing client research, we discovered a ton of 'newer' groups, blogs and start-up offerings in town.
Pointers for a Tuesday morning:
DC Tech Events calendar (great roll-up of user groups + more, offers
feeds)
The DC Technology Network (new social network, join and start a group)
Alice Marshall's Tech on the Potomac blogroll over on Blogdigger
TECH cocktail in DC
The Webpreneur (interesting thread)
There's other activity going on including this past weekend's Startup Weekend DC last summers barcamp and upcoming WidgetDevCamp.
This is in addition to the tons of DC MeetUps available and flickr groups.
This is all, of course, in addition to this week's New New Internet 2.0 conference in town.
Have any other pointers? Send them into the list! Txs, Mitch
